Xunantunich Ruins & Cave Tubing Adventure

Your day begins with a pickup from your resort or by meeting us at our tour shop. Pickup times will be provided based on your location. We’ll start the morning with breakfast before checking in 30 minutes prior to your scheduled flight or water taxi departure. You have two travel options to the mainland: ✈️ Flight Option: A scenic 15-minute flight from San Pedro to Belize City. 🚤 Water Taxi Option: A 1.5-hour boat ride across the Caribbean Sea to Belize City. Upon arrival in Belize City, you’ll meet your tour guide for the day. From there, it’s approximately a 2-hour drive to the village of Succotz in the Cayo District, home of the Xunantunich Maya Ruins. At the site, your guide will lead you on a walk through this ancient ceremonial center, sharing its fascinating history. You’ll also have the opportunity to climb the El Castillo temple, which stands about 150 ft tall, offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding jungle and Mopan River. After exploring Xunantunich, we’ll drive about 1 hour to Frank Eddy Village for a traditional Belizean lunch. Following lunch, it’s a 15-minute drive to the cave tubing site. Your guide will provide all necessary equipment and lead you on a 20–30 minute jungle hike to the entrance of the cave system. Once there, your inner tubes will be tied together, and your guide will lead you on a 45-minute float through the cave, sharing fascinating history and geological information along the way. After exiting the cave, you’ll float another 20 minutes through the jungle river before reaching the exit. A short 5-minute walk takes you to the facilities, where you can change into dry clothing. From the cave tubing site, it’s about a 1-hour drive back to Belize City’s municipal airstrip. You’ll check in for your return flight to San Pedro, where our staff will be waiting to take you back to your resort.
