Snorkeling & Reef Fishing Adventure at Mexico Rocks & Stingray Alley

Your adventure begins with a convenient pickup from your resort or by meeting us at our tour center. Once on board, our experienced guide will take you to one of his favorite reef fishing spots, either within the barrier reef or near a man-made reef system. After anchoring the boat, your guide will provide fishing instructions—perfect for beginners who have never cast a line before. Common catches include snapper (red, silk, mangrove, black, and mutton), as well as grunt, barracuda, amberjack, or horse-eye jack. You’ll enjoy 3–4 hours of reef fishing before your guide cleans your catch for you. You can choose to have it prepared at a local restaurant, enjoy it for lunch in San Pedro, or save it to cook later at your hotel. Following your lunch break in San Pedro, the tour continues with snorkeling at Mexico Rocks Marine Reserve, a vibrant patch reef system located between the barrier reef and the shoreline. This area is divided into the lower patch reef, upper patch reef, and Stingray Alley. At each snorkeling stop, our licensed guide will provide a safety briefing, explain how to use your gear, and review marine park rules. The water here averages about 10 ft deep, making it perfect for snorkeling. You’ll encounter thriving coral formations and a variety of marine life, including snappers, stingrays, parrotfish, angelfish, butterflyfish, spiny lobster, and more. Stop 1 – Lower Patch Reef: Snorkel among colorful coral heads teeming with reef fish. Stop 2 – Upper Patch Reef: Explore schools of sergeant majors, groupers, snappers, and with some luck, spot a green sea turtle. Stop 3 – Stingray Alley: In shallow waters (3–4 ft deep), you’ll swim alongside graceful Caribbean and Southern stingrays in their natural environment. After your snorkeling adventure, sit back, relax, and enjoy a 30-minute scenic boat ride back to your hotel.
