Mexico Rocks & Stingray Alley Snorkeling Expedition

Your tour begins with either a pickup from your resort or by meeting us at our tour center. Once on board, enjoy a short boat ride to our first stop, Mexico Rocks Marine Reserve. This reef system is divided into three sections: the Lower Patch Reef, Upper Patch Reef, and Stingray Alley. At the first stop, your licensed tour guide will provide a briefing on equipment use, as well as the rules and safety guidelines to follow. Mexico Rocks is a patch reef system located between the barrier reef and the shoreline, with an average water depth of 10 ft. During your snorkel, you’ll float above vibrant coral patches surrounded by an abundance of marine life, including snappers, stingrays, parrotfish, angelfish, butterflyfish, and spiny lobsters, just to name a few. You’ll spend approximately 1 hour at each reef stop. After a short rest on board, we’ll move to the Upper Patch Reef, where you’ll have another opportunity to snorkel among schools of sergeant majors, snappers, groupers, and with a 50% chance of spotting a green sea turtle. Next, enjoy a 5-minute boat ride to Stingray Alley, where the boat will anchor near the barrier reef. Here, you can snorkel in shallow waters (3–4 ft deep) alongside numerous Caribbean and southern stingrays and a few friendly nurse sharks—an unforgettable experience! After this incredible encounter, it’s about a 15-minute boat ride back to your hotel or resort, completing your full-day snorkeling adventure.
