Hol Chan & Mexico Rocks Snorkeling Adventure

The tour begins with meeting us at our tour center or arranging a pickup at your resort. Once on board, we take a short 15-minute boat ride to our first snorkeling destination, Holchan Marine Reserve. Holchan Marine Reserve: Holchan, meaning “small channel” in Maya, is a vibrant reef area where your guides will provide snorkeling equipment and instructions, along with a briefing on safety and rules. Spend approximately 1 hour snorkeling among schools of snapper, horse-eye jack, spotted eagle rays, barracudas, nurse sharks, butterfly fish, angel fish, and more. With water depths of about 8 ft, it feels like swimming in a giant aquarium! Shark Ray Alley: Next, snorkel with the gentle nurse sharks, also called “puppies of the sea.” These bottom-feeding sharks are harmless. You can observe them from the boat or swim alongside them in shallow waters. After snorkeling, you have the choice to take a break in San Pedro town or return to your resort to purchase lunch, or continue with an afternoon snorkeling adventure to Mexico Rocks. Mexico Rocks Marine Reserve: A short boat ride brings you to this unique patch reef system, divided into Lower Patch Reef, Upper Patch Reef, and Stingray Alley/City. Your licensed guide will provide a briefing before entering the water. Snorkel over vibrant coral patches surrounded by marine life such as snappers, parrot fish, angel fish, butterfly fish, stingrays, and spiny lobsters. Spend about 1 hour at each stop. At the Upper Patch Reef, you may also encounter schools of sergeant majors, snappers, groupers, and even a 50% chance to see a green turtle. Stingray Alley/City: Finally, enjoy snorkeling among Caribbean and southern stingrays and a few nurse sharks in shallow waters of 3–4 ft. This is an unforgettable experience where you can observe these magnificent creatures up close. After your adventure, we return to the boat for a scenic ride back to your resort, completing your day of snorkeling, marine life encounters, and unforgettable memories.
