Fish, Snorkel & Discover: Hol Chan Reef Experience

Enjoy the perfect combination of reef fishing and snorkeling in one exciting day tour! Tour Overview: The tour begins with a pickup from your resort or by meeting us at our tour center. Once on board, your tour guide will take you to their favorite fishing spot within the barrier reef or man-made reef systems. Reef Fishing: Anchor the boat and get ready to cast your line! Whether you’re a first-timer or experienced, our guides will teach you the basics. Fish for a variety of species including snapper (red, silk, mangrove, black, mutton), grunt, barracuda, amberjack, and horse-eye jack. Fishing lasts approximately 3–4 hours, after which your guide will clean your catch. You can either have your fish cooked at a local restaurant or take it back to your hotel to prepare yourself. Lunch Break: A stop in San Pedro gives you time to enjoy a meal or have your freshly caught fish prepared. Holchan Marine Reserve: After lunch, enjoy a 15-minute boat ride to Holchan, a Maya word meaning “small channel.” Here, your guides will provide snorkeling equipment and instructions, along with a briefing on rules and safety. Snorkel for about 1 hour among vibrant marine life including snapper, horse-eye jack, spotted eagle rays, barracudas, nurse sharks, butterfly fish, angel fish, and more. With a water depth of 8 ft, it feels like swimming in a giant aquarium! Shark Ray Alley: Next, snorkel with the gentle nurse sharks, also known as the “puppies of the sea.” These bottom-feeding sharks are harmless, and you can observe them from the boat or swim alongside them. After your adventure, we’ll take you back to your resort to relax and enjoy the rest of your day.
